Royal Academy of Dance Graduation 2017

Principal Katherine Husband

I started dancing at the age of five at my local dance school taking my graded and vocational exams in ballet, tap and modern.

At the age of 18 I continued my training at the Stella Mann College of Performing Arts graduating with a National Diploma in Professional Dance validated by Trinity College London and a Diploma in Dance Instruction. Whilst in training at Stella Mann I took part in numerous shows and performances. I also gained the chance to perform at corporate events such as the ‘Make a Wish Charity Ball’ at the Dorchester Hotel and ‘Move It’ a dance convention at London Olympia. More recently I had to opportunity to dance alongside Darcey Bussell in front of the royal family at The Patron's Lunch for the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations, this was broadcast live on BBC1.

Upon graduating I furthered my teacher training by completing the Diploma in Dance Education at the ISTD Kingston Teacher Training College.

In November 2016 I completed the Royal Academy of Dance Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies. The president of the Royal Academy of Dance Darcey Bussell presented the awards at the graduation ceremony.

Since graduating from Stella Mann I have been working as a freelance dance teacher in Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire. In September 2015 after working there for a year, I took over the Gwen Walker School of Dance in Fleet which now runs under the Halliwell name.

I hold a DBS police check, public liability insurance and am also dance specific first aid trained.
